Priti-sandarbha is a treatise on life’s ultimate goal, love of Godhead. Although love of God may seem to be simply an emotional state, the characteristics of love of God have been explained by the acharyas in great detail. The author first describes four features of the Lord’s personality. Then he describes how the pastimes of the Lord are considered in two divisions: those of opulence and power (aisvarya), and those of sweetness (madhurya).

Bhakti Sandarbha, which is the fifth volume in the anthology, deals with abhidheya, the prescribed method to actualize our relation with Bhagavān. After in Kṛṣṇa Sandarbha, Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī has established Śrī Kṛṣṇa as the original complete form of Bhagavān and the source of all other avatāras based on the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, he now discusses the practical aspect of bhakti, and thus specifying its nature and practice. He demonstrates that although there are descriptions of karma, yoga, and jñāna in Bhāgavata Purāṇa, it is ultimately bhakti alone that is identified as the true and complete method.

In Krsna-sandarbha, Srila Jiva Gosvami explicitly endeavors to prove once and for all that Sri Krsna is the original Personality of Godhead, and all other forms of Godhead are His expansions. In this volume, we also see some quotations from the Sarva-samvadini, which is Jiva Gosvami's commentary on his own Sat-sandarbha. In the Krsna-sandarbha itself, second-to-last text, the purpose of the book is very succinctly stated: The description of sambandha – the relationship between and individual living entities and the Supreme Personality of Godhead. All the incarnations and expansions exist simultaneously in the body of Krsna, who is described as two-handed. In this book are also descriptions of the Goloka planet, Vrndavana-the eternal place of Krsna, the identity of Goloka and Vrndavana and the eternal associates of Krsna. "Jiva Gosvami has got six Sandarbhas, these: Bhagavat-sandarbha, Krsna-sandarbha, Tattva-sandarbha, Priti-sandarbha, like that. So, I don't think that these books are published in English. These Sandarbhas of Jiva Gosvami are so philosophically discussed that throughout the whole world, thee is not a single philosopher who can defy them. We belong to the Gaudiya-sampradaya from Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, coming in the disciplic succession of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. We have got immense literature to understand God. One who wants to understand God through philosophy, science, argument and logic, to supply them reading material, we have got immense literature, Vedic literature".

The purpose of this book is very succinctly stated: The description of sambandha - the relationship between the individual living entities and the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In this book there is a description of Paramatma (the Supersoul) and an explanation of how the Supersoul exists in millions and millions of living entities. There are discussions of the differences between the qualitative incarnations, and discourses concerning the living entities, maya, the material world, the theory of transformation, the illustory energy, the sameness of this world and the Supersoul, and the truth about this material world.

This is the second of the six "Sat-Sandarbhas", the first being "Tattva-Sandarbha". The Sat-Sandarbhas thoroughly establish the authority of Srimad Bhagavatam, the transcendental Original Form of Godhead, Sri Krishna, Bhakti, and the methods and stages of Bhakti. The Six Sandarbhas are: Tattva, Paramatma, Bhagavat, Krishna, Bhakti, and Priti It is proven beyond doubt that the Supreme Lord is always the absolute controller of all His potencies, and that there is no question of Him coming under their control, especially under the control of the external energy, known as maya.
